Here is how to install MariaDB on Ubuntu 20.04 in under 2 minutes:
Step 1 - Update package index
The first step in the installation process is to update the package index on your system.
apt update downloads the package lists from the repositories and updates
them to get information on the newest versions of packages and their
dependencies. It will do this for all repositories and PPAs.
sudo apt update
Step 2 - Install the MariaDB package
Now, you can install mariadb-server package using the apt command:
sudo apt install mariadb-server
Step 3 (recommended) - Run the security script
It is not required but it is highly recommended to run the included security script that comes with the MariaDB installation. The script will guide you through setting up and securing your MariaDB installation:
sudo mysql_secure_installation
